Temperature Task Force (TTF)

The Temperature Task Force (TTF) was established to support a collaborative approach to addressing temperature-related water quality challenges and evolving regulatory requirements in Colorado. The Task Force brings together wastewater utilities, regulators, consultants, researchers, and other stakeholders to share information, evaluate implementation challenges, and develop practical, science-based solutions related to water temperature standards and compliance.

Through collaboration and data-driven analysis, the TTF works to improve understanding of temperature conditions in Colorado’s waterways and support effective, achievable approaches to protecting aquatic health while meeting regulatory requirements.

Our Purpose

The Temperature Task Force works to identify, evaluate, and help resolve temperature-related water quality issues across Colorado. In partnership with the Colorado Water Quality Control Division (CWQCD), the task force supports efforts to characterize temperature concerns, analyze monitoring data, and develop practical solutions for regulated entities.

A key focus of the TTF is collaborating with stakeholders to better understand how temperature standards are implemented and how site-specific conditions may influence compliance. By bringing together technical expertise, monitoring data, and regulatory perspectives, the task force develops science-based recommendations that are both environmentally protective and implementable.

The TTF provides a forum for ongoing discussion, information sharing, and collaborative problem-solving, helping stakeholders navigate temperature regulations while supporting the long-term protection of Colorado’s water resources.
